Windows Live Messenger Will Not Start?

I double click the icon and the Vista 'working circle' appears for around a second - and thats it!

I have tried uninstalling and deleting all folders but no luck.

How can I fix this?

You need to go to the Microsoft website or, the manufacturer of your computer and see if there is a patch to fix it.

I cannot get any messenger to work and I have Vista Home Basic running on an Acer laptop. There is a fix available if you know how to zip stuff etc, but, as a total numpty the fix will have to stay where it is cos I don't know how to do what they are telling me to do.

by the clock on the pc, if its already loaded and you have pressed the red x in the corner it still stays online. look for a green chest and head, right click and go to exit : this will sign you out of msn
OK i know about 2 other ways to help you since I'd die without WLM. OK 1, try going on programs and then that WLM icon. then presuming that doesn't work go to (for default vista) START ICON %26gt; COMPUTER %26gt; LOCAL DISK %26gt; PROGRAM FILES %26gt; WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER (windows live) %26gt; you may have to click on msn messenger %26gt; than inside the main file search for MSNMSGR . click on this file and this should take you straight to WLM main desktop. sorry for the huge answer, hope this works.
